Blessed By a Broken Heart – Feel The Power
[EMI / Tooth & Nail]
7/10

The new album Feel the Power from Canada’s Christian hair metal masters, Blessed By a Broken Heart sounds like, well Blessed By a Broken Heart. Not too much new here, but what this band does, they do very well. After settling on vocalist Tony Gambino in 2007 the band seemed to explode in popularity. Unlike many bands who try to somehow fuse modern day metal influence with 80′s hair metal, this band actually pulls it of very well. It doesn’t seem forced and also unlike other bands that rely heavily on image, Blessed By A Broken Heart does have genuine talent.

This album is full once again of throbbing anthems like “Shut Up and Rock” featuring Dallas Taylor of Maylene And the Sons of Disaster, which is full of killer solos I might add. Shred Sean’s virtuoso guitar work is something that really glues this band together and helps give them a more realistic 80′s vibe. The vocal melodies also are very fun and do a good job of keeping the band on a nice balance of modern day metalcore, but what we all love about hair metal, especially on Love Nightmare. Another thing I might add, the synth parts as well are excellently done, very authentic and well placed.

The first single “Deathwish” was Released in October of 2011, while this isn’t album of the year, it is very fun to listen to and sing along ( if you like that sort of thing). The album is out now on Tooth and Nail Records.
