Vegas Masquerade

Southerners have very rich roots and that includes Bluegrass, country music, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and southern rock and metal. 2009 All-American City Kinston, NC gave birth to Vegas Masquerade in 2007 and in 2009 the band signed to Standby Records. THIS THURSDAY Vegas Masquerade and Embracing Goodbye will be playing at Catch 22 in Greenville, NC and AUDIOPINONS WILL BE THERE!

I recently had the chance to talk to the band about the EP, Standby Records, and the Catch 22 show. You may read the whole interview after the jump.

AO: You guys announced your signing to Standby Records last month. How has that been and how was the reaction from the fans?

It’s been great. our EP entitled Don’t Bring A Knife To A Gunfight comes out Nov 11th on Standby so were definitely excited about that. The fans are really anxious for the album to come out and so are we.

AO: What other labels were on your radar and why did then eventually lose out to Standby?

We were in talks with Volcom and a few others, but we felt Standby was the right choice for us. The label has big plans for us and we’re stoked to get the show on the road.

AO: Any band or bands on the label that you guys are excited to tour with?

Modern Day Escape and Destruction Of A Rose

AO: Are there any touring plans being talked about with these bands or in general yet?

Not with these bands, but we’re going to go out with our friends Look Out Giants.

AO: What has the switch from unsigned to Standby Records been like?

It’s been very busy, were always having to do this or that, but at the end of the day its definitely worth it.

AO: Being in and around the North Carolina scene, how would you describe it? Who should music fans and labels be on the lookout for?

To be honest the NC SCENE SUCKS because kids feel like that have to listen to what their friends listen to or whatever they read in AP Mag. I think the greatest unsigned band in NC at the moment is The Campaign 1984. People should definitely check them out.

AO: October eighth you guys have a meet and greet at Hot Topic and a show with Embracing Goodbye in Greenville, North Carolina. Can you give us some more information on both?

We will be at the Greenville Hot Topic promoting the show that night with our boys Embracing Goodbye at Catch 22. We will be selling merch and giving away CDs at Hot Topic so definitely stop by and hang out with us.

AO: You guys have been streaming your EP on your MySpace for around two months now. Are you going to add any extra goodies on the CD or do you guys feel that with over 40,000 plays per song[Editor’s note: The songs have now surpassed 100,000 plays each.], that the record will sale with just those tracks?

We feel that that the record will sell fine, but we will be heading to Cleveland, Ohio to start on the full length very soon after. We will then be shooting a video for When in Rome at the end of October. Fans definitely have a lot to look forward to.

AO: What should we expect from the full-length? What is left to be done with those songs before they are recorded?

You can expect an eargasim!! We will be heading into the studio soon and we will keep you guys posted.

AO: What dream tour would you love to be on with any past or present bands and why?

We would love to do a tour with old Motley Crue, Pantera, and Black Label. Can you imagine the after party! Damn there would be a movie made about that tour.

AO: Haha, that movie would be so much better than Hannah Montana and Jonas Brothers don’t you think?

Oh yea it would be one continuous party!!! With lots of well you know lol

AO: What are your thoughts of illegal downloading and CDs getting leaked onto the internet?

We really don’t care, bands hardly make money off albums anyway and it’s good promotion.

AO: What should fans look forward to for the rest of 2009 and the beginning of 2010?

Our full length and touring

AO: Thank you for your time :) Any final thoughts?

Hey guys thank you for your support! Go out and get our Album NOV 11TH!
